Interactive Journal Mash-up

One of my favorite projects of late is the Interactive Journal. This 6x8 handmade book is a great way to preserve memories from a special event or trip.

After participating in Tricia's Interactive Journal online class, I was inspired to make one for myself. The book below was constructed with a "mash up" of papers and embellishments from past Club Scrap page kits, including the now-extinct Bookworm and Industrial Evolution kits.

I couldn't resist featuring my favorite print prominently on the front cover.

A wood word (from my stash) lets the print be the star of the show.

Inside, a clever pocket built into the front cover features a two-part closure that reminds me of a saddle bag. The pocket is home to a removable folio.

The folio opens to reveal tons of real estate for additional photos and embellishment.

The interior of the book is filled with additional pockets and other hidden nooks that make it truly interactive.

I hope my book inspires you to give this project a try for yourself. It's a bit more challenging than most, but well worth the extra effort to transform any CS® Page Kit into a really impressive handmade keepsake. Just imagine possibilities - the ability to customize each book to the personality of the recipient or to document a special event/occasion.
