Faux Watercolor stamping with Golden Hour.

Inspired by this blog post, I recently played with faux watercolor techniques using a variety of different mediums. The cards below, featuring now-extinct Golden Hour stamps, are made from some of my first practice panels. (Additional play time yielded the Ever After faux watercolor cards I shared last week on the Club Scrap blog.)

After watching the video tutorial, I began by trying to closely mimic the clean and simple look of the original artist's cards.

The faux watercolor background is created by applying a mix of green and gold Distress marker colors on a Golden Hour image stamp. Apply the inks, lightest to darkest, then mist lightly with water, and stamp onto a plain white panel. Repeat until the desired look is achieved. Flecks of black watercolor crayon on a saturated water brush create interest.

I was particularly inspired by the black sentiment strip and simple white text. For this card, stamp the sentiment (2021 Ever After stamps) onto a black strip using White Pigment ink.

The birthday card features a similar background, this time adding of shades of brown and rust to the palette.

The flecks were created with brown and yellow watercolor on a saturated water brush. Stamp "Happy Birthday" (2021 Say Cheese stamps) onto a black strip using White Pigment ink.

When was the last time you revisited an old technique? Some of my favorite cards originate with panels made during free-style technique "play" time.

Happy crafting!
