Colorful Up-cycled Cards

When working with Club Scrap kits, there usually aren't many scraps (if any) after assembly. However, when making projects from the kits, you may end up with some leftovers. I hate to waste such beautiful paper, so what's a girl to do?

Why not "up-cycle" the strips to make bonus cards?!?

I recently created two 3.75x5" panels with leftover strips from Club Scrap's Whimsy Page kit. How? Apply double-sided adhesive to a scrap panel. Adhere paper strips on the diagonal or in a herringbone pattern. Trim the panel to the desired size.

Each panel is mat with black on a plain white A2 card base. Are you ready for a closer look at each card?

Card 1

Stamp the Whimsy sentiment in India ink. Add flowers (Legacy stamps) with Club Scrap Hybrid Fuchsia ink. Mat with black.

Stamp "Happy Birthday" inside (Farm Critters Remix stamps - retired).

Card 2

On the second card, stamp the Whimsy sentiment onto one of the diagonal strips. Embellish with a fussy cut flower.

Add a sentiment inside.

To create the flower embellishment, stamp the collage image onto a white panel with India ink. Use an ink applicator brush to color the image with Fuchsia ink. Fussy cut the flower; add a black enamel sticker to the center. Attach with foam adhesive circles.

Eliminating waste to create beautiful cards? Yes, please!

Happy crafting!

  1. Karen, these are sooo cool! I swear we are always thinking alike. I have some scraps from a project and thought how the scraps would make great cards. Thanks for the inspiration!
