Ports of Call Explorer's Journal

One of my favorite projects released at Club Scrap's Anniversary Cruise was the Explorer's Journal. During class, students constructed a uniquely interactive mini album in a versatile kraft color. Tricia decorated her finished journal with the Navigation Remix page kit. You can tour her journal on the Club Scrap blog.

I chose the Explorer's Journal in stone, and decorated it using the Ports of Call page kit.

It's perfect for showcasing a special occasion or trip. My journal documents a recent vacation to Punta Cana.

The journal measures approximately 6 x 8 x 1.5".

Back cover of Explorer's Journal

You'll have to excuse me for the long post. There are so many interactive elements and nooks and crannies in this book, I wanted you to see them all!

The inside front cover features a pocket with a velcro closure. The pocket holds a removable mini book, with a four-flap design.

A cutapart sentiment decorates the front cover.

Open the top and bottom flaps to reveal photos inside.

Open the left flap...

....and the right flap to reveal pockets with even more decorating potential. Each pocket contains a mat created from Ports of Call papers.

Each mat features photos on the front and back.

There is plenty of space for more photos in the main section of the journal. A tabbed panel slips into a vertical pocket inside.

A clever pocket is designed to "swing" open, revealing another photo beneath.

Two split-hinged pockets each hold a mini fold-out booklet.

All of these pockets are ideal for holding additional photos or memorabilia.

The beauty of the Explorer's Journal is its versatility. The kraft and stone options coordinate with just about anything! Each journal can be decorated using a Club Scrap page kit, creating a beautiful keepsake to enjoy for years to come. Perfect for gift-giving, too!

I'd love to hear how your using your Explorer's Journal project. Leave me a comment below.

Happy crafting!
